A DataFast alternative with unlimited sites and team members
traffic.cx and DataFast both tie payments to the traffic that brought them. traffic.cx includes unlimited sites and team members on every paid plan, costs less at each volume we compared, and is cookieless by default. DataFast has a longer trial, Shopify support, Plausible data import and MCP access.

What's the same
Both are revenue-first web analytics. You add a script, connect a payment provider, and see which sources, campaigns and pages bring paying customers, not just visits.
Both sync Stripe, Lemon Squeezy and Polar, both support Dodo Payments, and both have an API for sending payments from your own server. Both have goals and funnels, and both connect Search Console to give estimated revenue by search term. traffic.cx spreads the organic revenue from each landing page across that page's search terms by their share of clicks. If you like DataFast's idea of putting revenue next to traffic, traffic.cx follows the same idea.
Where traffic.cx is different
Unlimited sites and team members on every paid plan
Every paid traffic.cx plan includes unlimited sites and team members, with roles. Price depends only on monthly events, shared across your sites (pricing).
DataFast Starter covers 1 website and 1 team member. Growth covers 30 of each (datafa.st, as of 22 October 2026). If you run several side projects, or want a co-founder or contractor to see the numbers, that's the main difference.
One note: the trial excludes team invitations and API keys. You can add more than one site during the trial, and invite your team once you're on a paid plan.
Lower price at each volume
traffic.cx costs less than both DataFast plans at 10k, 100k and 1M monthly events; see the dated table in Pricing compared.
If you need more than one site or teammate, the like-for-like DataFast plan is Growth.
Cookieless by default: a privacy difference, not an accuracy one
traffic.cx's tracker sets no visitor cookie unless you switch on cookie mode. DataFast's default script uses cookies, and its cookieless script is something you opt into (DataFast docs).
This is a difference in defaults, which matters for consent. Whether you need consent depends on your setup and the rules that apply to you. Revenue attribution links payments to visits, so check with your adviser either way.
It isn't more accurate attribution. Cookieless mode weakens long-range attribution for every tool, ours included. DataFast's own docs say so: without a long-lived cookie, delayed and multi-touch conversions are attributed less completely, and the limit "is shared by essentially all cookieless analytics products" (DataFast docs, accessed 22 Oct 2026). traffic.cx's docs say the same about its default mode: a payment links to a visit from the same day, not to one on an earlier day. Nothing links a different device without customer history.
If your buyers usually take days or weeks to decide, turn on traffic.cx's cookie mode and handle consent for it.
Unattributed payments are shown, not guessed
Some payments can't be linked to a visit: the tracker was blocked, the checkout ran before it loaded, or the buyer came back on another device. traffic.cx keeps those payments in your revenue total and labels them "Unattributed". Your total matches what your provider received, and you can see the size of the gap.
Renewals inherit the source of the customer's first payment. Refunds are subtracted on the day they happen and credited to the original payment (how it works). For how attribution models and lookback windows work, see Revenue attribution for SaaS.
CSV export of report tables
traffic.cx exports its dashboard report tables to CSV, up to 1,000 rows each. Paid plans add a JSON Stats API. There's no raw-event export.
DataFast gives access through its API, CLI and MCP. Its DPA says it "does not provide consolidated archive exports or raw event logs" (datafa.st/dpa, section 8, as of 22 October 2026). Which works better depends on what you need. If you want to pull data with code or an AI agent, DataFast has more ways in. Neither tool offers a raw-event export.
Where DataFast is the better choice
DataFast is popular with indie hackers for good reasons. Choose it over traffic.cx if any of these matter more to you:
- A longer free trial. 14 days with no card, against traffic.cx's 7 days or 10,000 events. Revenue data needs a sale to show anything, so extra days help.
- Shopify. DataFast has a native Shopify integration and a Shopify app. traffic.cx has no Shopify connector.
- No-code plugins. WordPress, Webflow, Framer, Wix, Ghost, Google Tag Manager and more. traffic.cx is a script tag you add yourself.
- Paddle and WooCommerce. DataFast's docs include setup guides for both. traffic.cx has no Paddle or WooCommerce connector.
- Plausible data import. You can bring your Plausible history into DataFast. traffic.cx has no import from Google Analytics or Plausible.
- API, CLI and MCP. DataFast connects to AI coding tools and assistants through MCP and a CLI. traffic.cx has an API only.
- Growth-plan extras. Social mentions on X and Reddit, and X link attribution. Both plans include AI bot request tracking.
- A larger user base. datafa.st says it's used by 27,207 people (as of 22 October 2026), and its founder builds in public.
Pricing compared (as of 22 Oct 2026)
| Monthly events | traffic.cx (every plan) | DataFast Starter | DataFast Growth |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10,000 | $7 | $9 | $19 |
| 100,000 | $15 | $19 | $39 |
| 1,000,000 | $55 | $69 | $139 |
| Sites / team members | Unlimited / unlimited, on every paid plan | 1 / 1 | 30 / 30 |
Monthly billing, USD. Sources: traffic.cx pricing, datafa.st.
- Both price by monthly events.
- Both give two months free on yearly billing: traffic.cx yearly is 10× the monthly price, and DataFast's yearly plans are also 10×.
- traffic.cx prices include tax.
- traffic.cx's smallest plan is $5 a month for 5,000 events.
How to switch from DataFast
Run both scripts during the trial
Add the traffic.cx script next to DataFast's and verify your first visit. The traffic.cx trial lasts 7 days or 10,000 events, whichever comes first, so start it when you have normal traffic.
Connect your payment provider
In Settings → Revenue, connect Stripe, Lemon Squeezy, Polar or Dodo Payments. For Stripe, traffic.cx imports the last 90 days of payments when you connect. Those older payments mostly show as Unattributed, because they carry no traffic.cx IDs.
Pass the pageview ID into checkout
When the visitor starts checkout, read traffic.cx's pageview ID in the browser and add it to the checkout's metadata. Stripe subscriptions need it on the subscription too, so renewals carry it. The revenue docs show the code for each provider.
Choose cookieless or cookie mode before launch
Decide this up front. Cookieless is the default. Cookie mode links visits across days on the same browser, which helps if people take a while to buy. Whether you need consent depends on your setup and the mode you choose.
Your history stays in DataFast
traffic.cx can't import DataFast data. Your traffic history starts on the day you install the script. Keep DataFast until you no longer need the old reports, or pull what you need through DataFast's API first.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good DataFast alternative?
If you want revenue by source with more than one site, or a teammate, on the entry price, traffic.cx includes unlimited sites and team members on every paid plan. It syncs Stripe, Lemon Squeezy, Polar and Dodo Payments.
Is traffic.cx cheaper than DataFast?
Yes, at the volumes we compared. At 10k / 100k / 1M monthly events, traffic.cx is $7 / $15 / $55, against DataFast Starter $9 / $19 / $69 and Growth $19 / $39 / $139, as of 22 October 2026.
Does DataFast use cookies?
Its default script does. DataFast also offers an opt-in cookieless script, which it says gives lower accuracy for long-term revenue attribution.
Is cookieless attribution as accurate as cookie-based?
No, not for purchases on a later day or another device. Cookieless mode links payments to visits from the same day. Linking visits across days needs cookie mode, on either tool.
Can I export my data from DataFast or traffic.cx?
traffic.cx exports dashboard report tables to CSV (up to 1,000 rows each), and paid plans add a JSON Stats API. There's no raw-event export. DataFast gives access through its API and CLI, and its DPA says it doesn't provide consolidated archive exports or raw event logs. One user on Hacker News described writing a script against DataFast's endpoints to move their data; that's one person's experience, not a test we ran.
DataFast vs Google Analytics: where does traffic.cx fit?
traffic.cx and DataFast are both simpler, revenue-first alternatives to Google Analytics. The difference between them is plan limits, defaults and price.
DataFast vs PostHog?
PostHog is a product analytics platform with a large free tier, 1 million analytics events a month as of 22 October 2026. DataFast and traffic.cx are revenue-first web analytics tools.
Does traffic.cx work with Shopify or have an MCP server?
Not today. If you need either, DataFast has a Shopify integration and an MCP server.
