Plans, Limits and Data History

What the Free plan and paid plans include, how monthly events are counted, what happens when you go over, how far back you can see, and when data is deleted.

Every traffic.cx plan has every feature. The Free plan covers one site with 3,000 events a month and the last 30 days of reports. Paid plans add more events, more sites, your full history, the API and teams. See pricing for prices.

New accounts start on the Free plan, with no card and no trial that runs out. Each person gets one Free plan; another team of yours needs a paid plan to keep its dashboards open. If your trial started before the Free plan existed, it finishes as normal and then your team moves to Free.

How events are counted

Each pageview and custom event counts once. Engagement pings and filtered bot traffic don't count. A payment synced from your payment provider isn't an event; a purchase event you send from your site is.

On Free, your month runs from the day your team moved to the Free plan, not from the 1st. Team → Plan shows how many events you've used and when the month resets.

Going over the limit on Free

Going over never cuts your charts off without warning, and it's never billed.

  • At 80% and 100% of 3,000, the dashboard shows a notice.
  • Over 3,000, we keep recording, up to 6,000 events that month. Past 6,000, tracking pauses until the next month.
  • Over 3,000 two months in a row, tracking pauses at 3,000 from the next month. A month that ends without reaching 3,000 brings back the normal rule.

An example, month by month:

MonthWhat happens
1: over 3,000Recorded up to 6,000, with a notice
2: under 3,000Normal; the count of months over restarts
3: over 3,000Recorded up to 6,000
4: over 3,000Recorded up to 6,000; a notice warns of the stricter rule
5: reaches 3,000Paused at 3,000 until the month ends
6: under 3,000Nothing pauses; month 7 is back to normal

Your dashboards and data stay open the whole time. Usage is checked every hour, so a few events can arrive after a pause starts.

The last 30 days

On Free, every report shows the last 30 days, today included, in your site's time zone. That covers the overview, revenue, goals, funnels, Search Console, the bot traffic report, CSV export and shared links. Realtime and the live map cover the last 30 minutes, as on every plan.

  • Date ranges that reach further back start at the first day you can see.
  • Comparisons work inside the window, such as the last 7 days against the 7 before. Comparing a full 30 days with the 30 before, or a year with the last, needs a paid plan.

Older data isn't thrown away: it's kept, hidden, so upgrading shows your whole history at once.

Data older than 12 months

On the Free plan, data older than 12 months is deleted each month: analytics events and sessions, payment records, and Search Console totals. Each site always keeps at least 12 full months. Paid plans have no automatic expiry.

If a paid plan ends and your team moves to Free, your older data waits 60 days before the first clean-up, and the team's owners get an email 14 days before it. Upgrade before then and nothing is deleted.

Deleted data can stay in our backups until they expire, up to 30 days later. The privacy notice has the full retention details.

More than one site on Free

The Free plan collects for one site. If your team had more when it moved to Free, the site with the most events over the past month stays on. The others pause:

  • they stop collecting visits;
  • their payment and Search Console syncs pause, and their dashboards ask you to upgrade;
  • nothing is deleted, and their connections stay in Settings, marked Paused on Free.

You can make a different site your Free site once a month, from Team → Plan. Adding another site while on Free asks you to upgrade.

API keys and teammates

The API and inviting people need a paid plan. Keys made during a paid plan aren't deleted when it ends; on Free they're refused until you upgrade, then work again. People already in your team stay.

Upgrade

Choose a plan in Team → Plan. It's charged at once; there's no trial, but your first payment can be refunded in full within 14 days (refund policy). Everything opens at once: your full history, paused sites with their payment and Search Console syncs (which catch up on the days they missed), API keys and invitations.

If you cancel a paid plan, it keeps working until the end of the period you paid for, then your team moves to the Free plan, if you don't already have one.
