How to use the MRR growth calculator
- 01
Enter your MRR today and your average monthly growth rate.
- 02
Choose how many months to project, up to 10 years.
- 03
Add a target MRR to see how many months it takes at that rate.
How it’s calculated
Projected MRR
MRR after n months = starting MRR × (1 + monthly growth)ⁿ
Growth compounds: each month grows from the month before, not from today.
Months to a target
Months = ⌈log(target ÷ starting MRR) ÷ log(1 + monthly growth)⌉
Rounded up to the first whole month that reaches the target.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good monthly MRR growth rate?
Young products often grow faster in percentage terms because they start small; growth usually slows as MRR rises. Use your own average from recent months, net of churn, rather than a target you hope for.
Does this include churn?
Use your net growth rate: new and expansion MRR minus churned and contracted MRR, as a percentage of last month's MRR. A negative rate shows MRR shrinking.
Why is compound growth so different from linear growth?
Each month grows from a bigger base. At 10% a month, MRR is 3.14 times higher after a year; adding 10% of today’s MRR each month would give only 2.2 times.
How can I grow MRR faster?
Put more effort into the channels that bring paying customers. Comparing revenue per visitor by source shows which traffic is worth more of your time.
